Make It So For 24 Hours

When's the last time someone offered you something for free that lasted 24 hours?  This is only for someone with an urgent and compelling need so don't abuse the privilege.  Actually, it's kinda cool if you put on headphones and close your eyes.  Sorta like noise cancelling in reverse...

Paying It Forward

"In the order of nature we cannot render benefits
to those from whom we receive them, or only seldom.
But the benefit we receive must be rendered again,
line for line, deed for deed, cent for cent, to somebody."

Does Anyone Remember 9-11

First, I want to make something perfectly clear.  I am not a conspiracy theorist.  I never believed all those stories about President Kennedy's assassination being orchestrated by little green men from Mar because they were afraid that once we landed on the moon their home would be next.

Now that I have that off my chest, let me get this off my chest...

September 13, 2002  Pyotr Simonenko, the leader of the Ukrainian Communist Party stated that of the 2400 nuclear warheads stored in his country during the Soviet era only 2200 were turned over to the Russians and no one knew where the other 200 were.  Perhaps they were hidden away on the numerous military bases scattered across the Ukraine.

March 6, 2014  Russian soldiers stormed a Ukrainian military base on the Black Sea coast of the Crimean peninsula.  A stand-off between Russian and Ukrainian soldiers was resolved without a shot being fired and the Russians left the base.  Perhaps they were looking for something.  Or, they could have been just checking inventory.

March 8, 2014  Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappears soon after take-off and cannot be found.  Perhaps it wasn't an accident.

March 15, 2014  Russian troops invade the small town of Perevalne, Ukraine which contains a military base.  No one seems to know for sure why the troops invaded this non-strategic village.  Perhaps they were looking for something.  Or, they could have been just checking inventory.

Does anyone remember 9-11?

Hurry Up Google Fiber

Goodbye cable.  Hello "Google Fiber".  It has an internet connection speed 100 times faster than cable.  To put that into perspective, the DVR that comes with the service can record eight television shows simultaneously.  You may not be able to get it for a while, but when you do...

Camping Trip

Since we've retired, my wife and I decided we'd buy a camper.  We're getting on in years so we're just going to go to the end of the street and spend the night.  I'll drive down and she'll drive back in the morning...

I Kid You Not

This was inevitable.

The "Wake Up and Smell the Bacon" dongle plugs into your smartphone and fires out a scented bacon spray in conjunction with the sound of bacon sizzling in a fry pan.  If your interested in in getting one of these Oscar Mayer (who else) will be happy to send you one...

Crony Capitalism

Everyone knows what "Skype" is, but do you know where it was developed?  If you said the United States you'd be wrong.  The answer is Estonia.  And if someone asked you who has the faster internet speeds, the US or Estonia, what would you say?  Suprise, suprise, suprise.  It's Estonia.  All thanks to the crony capitalism of The 1996 Telecommunications Act.  Yup, the politicians and the cable and telecom companies all got together back then and decided to screw all us folks that live in the country that practically invented the internet.  And if you don't believe me, you can read all about it here.

Oh, and by the way, what it costs to use the internet here in the USA is way more than what the folks in Estonia and a whole lot of other countries are paying.

"Thank you", big government.
