The Slime Of The Republican Party

I'll be the first to admit I ain't the sharpest pencil in the classroom. So, if any of the following comments are incorrect, please let me know.

Back on June 3 Chris McDaniel beat Thad Cochran in the Mississippi GOP Primary.  But since neither won a majority of the votes a runoff election was scheduled for June 24.  Mr. McDaniel was the upstart Tea Party candidate and he wasn't suppose to beat incumbent Cochran.  So, before the June 24 runoff Cochran's good old establishment buddies up in DC raised $800,000 and sent it to Cochran.  No big deal, right?  It happens all the time in politics.

But wait, here's where it gets interesting.  Mississippi is one of 21 states that has an "open" primary. That means any registered voter can vote for any party.  In other word, a Democrat can vote for a Republican candidate and visa versa.  Well, the Cochran campaign figured they couldn't get enough Republican votes to defeat McDaniel, so what did they do?  They took the $800,000 and went out and paid thousands of Democrats $15 each to vote for Cochran.

And Cochran won the runoff election.

This ain't politics folks.  This is slime!
