Been There...Done That

An Associate Of Evil

This guy doesn't look like the devil, but he very well could be.  And if he isn't he's one of the devil's most trusted associates.  And the irony is, he doesn't even know he's an associate of evil. This is Richard Dawkins.  He's been described as "the planet's most celebrated - and angriest - atheist" and some call him the "Chief Inquisitor of Unbelief".  This demonic demagogue, instead of speaking words, pukes up bile.  Here's his latest...

"Raising a child as a Catholic is worse that subjecting it to sexual abuse."

Whatever Slays Your Dragon

Just In Case You're Wondering...

They're Coming To Get Me And You

Why does a gun go "Bang"?  The answer is easy.  It's because you pull the trigger.  And no matter what kind of gun you own, when you pull the trigger it goes bang.  Now let me ask you this.  Why did Adam Lanza and Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold and Seung-Hui Cho kill innocent people?  Not so easy as the first question, is it?  And I've got to believe the more you ponder these names the more you become uncomfortable thinking about them.  The point I'm trying to make is, "Talking about guns is easier than talking about shooters".

In the coming months you will hear the politicians in Washington and in state and local governments discuss ways to prevent what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary.  They'll talk a lot about banning guns because it's easier than talking about that how to identify a potential shooter.  And they'll talk a lot about how to protect society rather than allowing society to protect themselves.

And I'll bet before all's said and done, someone is going to rant and rave about how society is full of wild animals with guns wanting to kill each other and the only way to protect me from you is to send out the elk and the caribou...

Survival Lessons

Personal Prophecy

Well, I gotta feelin' that Mayan calendar thing about the world coming to an end ain't gonna happen today. But I do have a prophecy of my own and you can mark it on your calendar. Nine months from yesterday there's gonna to be a huge spike in child births.

"C'mon dear...just in case."

Wrong Translation

It wasn't a message to the Mayans
About the end of the world.
It was a message to the groom
About his wedding day.

C'mon, Gimme A Break

I'm sorry, but this is not my definition of "The Right Stuff".

Bovine Humor

If you're going to take the time to read this posting, you need to know a couple things about me. If you've been here before, you've probably noticed I'm not quite the brightest light bulb in the chandelier.  And if you haven't, that's why I'm warning you right up front.  Also, I have a BA degree in Political Science and I'm retired after a thirty year career in dairy manufacturing.

Don't ask.

Having said all that, here are a few descriptions of various forms of government that I find quite amusing.  And if you don't think they're all that funny, well...you had to be there.

Where Was God?

Those Who Know Him Know

Since the horrific tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary last Friday, many have asked "Where was God?".
To those who asked that question and are now looking to their government to prevent another mass murder, listen carefully.  You're looking in the wrong direction!

God spoke the following words to Job, but He could just as well be speaking them today to all those "wise" politicians in Washington who think they can legislate a solution to all the evils of this world...

Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm. He said:
“Who is this that obscures my plans
    with words without knowledge?
 Brace yourself like a man;
    I will question you,
    and you shall answer me.
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
    Tell me, if you understand.
Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
On what were its footings set,
    or who laid its cornerstone
while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels[a] shouted for joy?
“Who shut up the sea behind doors
when it burst forth from the womb,
when I made the clouds its garment
and wrapped it in thick darkness,
when I fixed limits for it
and set its doors and bars in place,
 when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther;
here is where your proud waves halt’?
“Have you ever given orders to the morning,
or shown the dawn its place,
that it might take the earth by the edges
and shake the wicked out of it?
 The earth takes shape like clay under a seal;
its features stand out like those of a garment.
The wicked are denied their light,
and their upraised arm is broken.
“Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
Have the gates of death been shown to you?
Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?
Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all this.
“What is the way to the abode of light?
    And where does darkness reside?
Can you take them to their places?
Do you know the paths to their dwellings?
Surely you know, for you were already born!
You have lived so many years!
“Have you entered the storehouses of the snow
or seen the storehouses of the hail,
which I reserve for times of trouble,
for days of war and battle?
What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed,
or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?
Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain,
and a path for the thunderstorm,
to water a land where no one lives,
    an uninhabited desert,
 to satisfy a desolate wasteland
and make it sprout with grass?
Does the rain have a father?
Who fathers the drops of dew?
From whose womb comes the ice?
Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens
when the waters become hard as stone,
when the surface of the deep is frozen?
“Can you bind the chains[b] of the Pleiades?
    Can you loosen Orion’s belt?
Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons[c]
or lead out the Bear[d] with its cubs?
Do you know the laws of the heavens?
Can you set up God’s[e] dominion over the earth?
“Can you raise your voice to the clouds
and cover yourself with a flood of water?
Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?
 Who gives the ibis wisdom[f]
    or gives the rooster understanding?[g]
Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?
Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens
 when the dust becomes hard
and the clods of earth stick together?
“Do you hunt the prey for the lioness
and satisfy the hunger of the lions
when they crouch in their dens
or lie in wait in a thicket?
Who provides food for the raven
when its young cry out to God
and wander about for lack of food?

Problem Solved

Seems as though there's this "think tank" in London (Legatum Institute), that recently concluded a study that proves our "national well-being" is slipping.  Yup, they say that over the last four years prosperity is increasing all over the world except here in this country.  By the way, why does someone have to climb inside a tank to think?

Anyway, as a result of this think tank's study, the United States is now ranked 12th out of 142 counties on their 2012 Prosperity Index, putting us outside the top ten for the first time ever.  The Legatum Institute finds that the decline in our well-being is the direct result of "a decline in the number of US citizens who believe that hard work will get them ahead".

Hmmm?  Have you ever seen illegal immigrants working?  I have.  By and large, they're some of the hardest workers out there.  So I figure it this way. In a few more years we'll have screwed this country up so bad our "Prosperity Index" will be 141st out of 142.  Do you see where I'm going with this?  You got it.  The illegal immigrant is going to say, "I'm outa here".

Bingo...no more illegal immigration problem.

P.S.  Then the Republicans might...nah, no way.

A Not So Joyous Christmas

Please Pray

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."  John 10:10

How do we prevent the horrific tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut from ever happening again?  I've heard some say today that tougher gun laws are needed, especially laws banning  automatic weapons.  Others counter that gun control is not the answer and that "the only way to stop a man with a gun is with a gun".

OK, let's pass a law and ban all automatic hand guns and assault rifles.  Thus, the next time that son of a kindergarten teacher goes berserk, he would only be able to kill one five-year-old child instead of twenty.  And if that one dead child was your five year old son or daughter, I'm sure you'd feel better knowing that there's a law on the books banning automatic weapons.

On the other hand, let's say you believe that the only way to stop a man with a gun is with a gun.  Thus, the next time that son of a kindergarten teacher goes berserk, he's going to think twice before walking into a classroom of twenty five-year-old's with guns.  I apologize.  David Frum already said that.  Even if the principal at that school had had a gun, he would have been at a distinct disadvantage when the shooter had two semi-automatic weapons and an armored vest.

I'm in no way trying to make light of this tragic and horrifying event.  I'm just trying to say that this hellish act of violence could not have been prevented with more guns or less guns.  If you believe otherwise, so be it.  However, believe this also.  There is a Heaven and there is a Hell and the world we live in is full of both good and evil.  There is a God and there is a devil and the shooter at Sandy Hook Elementary was a thief sent by the devil.  And he stole and he killed and he destroyed.
