Please Pray

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."  John 10:10

How do we prevent the horrific tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut from ever happening again?  I've heard some say today that tougher gun laws are needed, especially laws banning  automatic weapons.  Others counter that gun control is not the answer and that "the only way to stop a man with a gun is with a gun".

OK, let's pass a law and ban all automatic hand guns and assault rifles.  Thus, the next time that son of a kindergarten teacher goes berserk, he would only be able to kill one five-year-old child instead of twenty.  And if that one dead child was your five year old son or daughter, I'm sure you'd feel better knowing that there's a law on the books banning automatic weapons.

On the other hand, let's say you believe that the only way to stop a man with a gun is with a gun.  Thus, the next time that son of a kindergarten teacher goes berserk, he's going to think twice before walking into a classroom of twenty five-year-old's with guns.  I apologize.  David Frum already said that.  Even if the principal at that school had had a gun, he would have been at a distinct disadvantage when the shooter had two semi-automatic weapons and an armored vest.

I'm in no way trying to make light of this tragic and horrifying event.  I'm just trying to say that this hellish act of violence could not have been prevented with more guns or less guns.  If you believe otherwise, so be it.  However, believe this also.  There is a Heaven and there is a Hell and the world we live in is full of both good and evil.  There is a God and there is a devil and the shooter at Sandy Hook Elementary was a thief sent by the devil.  And he stole and he killed and he destroyed.
